When Cold Weather Freezes Your Water Pipes

The cold can do a lot to your house like cause water damage to it. It can cause pipes to crack, bust, and cause your hot water heater pipes to pop off. When it gets cold enough it starts to freeze things and it can cause ice to from on many surfaces. It can cause bowing and warping if the cold attacks your house bad. The cold can damage your roof and it can also cause it to become slanted and wavy when you look at it.

It can cause the paint on the outside of your house to peel off and get to the wood. If the cold causes pipes to bust you can have floods in your house and in your yard. If it causes a flood, can do damage to your foundation which is not good at all because it can cause cracks in it, it can sink into the ground and cause inside slanting inside the home. If a flood happens in your house it can cause damage to the floors, walls, and everything you have in your house.

The water can soak into your carpets, furniture, cabinets, and in your appliances. Everything you have can be ruined by busted pipes due to the cold weather. So you will want to watch when the temperature drops because if the cold gets under 32 degrees this can happen. It can cause leaks some times if it freezes them and water damage will occur later. You can have leaks under your house, under the kitchen sink, or the bathroom fixtures. You will need to check your home that morning or when it get warmer outside to check for damage.

If the cold does cause leaks, busted or cracked pipes, you will need to turn off the water and change the pipe or repair it. If the pipe is hard to get to, you will have to get the professionals plumber to fix the problems so you will not cause more damage to your home. Also some time if you try to do it yourselves you can hit something and cause more leaks and you may not even know about it until more problems happen. The professionals will also check the other pipes to see if they need fixed. They will also check the area around the pipes, see if there is any water damage or water seeping. When you have had flooding from a busted pipe, you should call in a water damage company instead of a plumber because they will be able to deal will all of the issues involved where a plumber will only fix the pipes.
